3 things attracted me to this particular view of Piazza San Marco:
1, the simple bands of colour, beautiful colours, a bit like Cassata ice cream!
2, how I subconsciously see Venice as opposed to my other favourite Italian city, Siena.
While I see Siena as a palette of dusky earthy colours,
don’t know why but I see Venice as a much richer palette, as if Klimt were to paint it.
Hence the touch of Gold Leaf in places.
3, Once I started, I really got into the patterns of the window openings on the facades and how much or how little emphasis to give them.
Kept reminding me of an Advent Calendar!
