Second in an Italian Series of 3.
Like with Siena, I love the Colours and Texture of Venice, except here they seem somewhat richer.
Also, the haphazard Pattern of the Roofscape formed by, and in contrast to, the deep, deep shadow of the meandering Streets, Passages, and in this case the Canals, pure Chiaroscuro!
Also, the contrast with the formality of the Piazza San Marco with its surrounding landmarks, The Basilica di San Marco, Palazzo Ducale and Waterfront Setting to The Grand Canal.
Wanted to keep it a simple Figure Ground to get this across rather than being too literal.
